HISTORY OF THE “WORLD STAR”… (IN SPANISH)

Este proyecto para inmortalizar a los mejores atletas del mundo… Llamado en
ingles “world star”…se iba a realizar en 1994 cuando la ciudad 
aprobo la renovacion del parque “exposition park”…pero por causa del
terremoto en northridge los equipos de la “nfl”… Los
“rams” se fueron para san luis missouri y los “raiders” se
fueron para oakland…y todo se tuvo que cancelar…

Y los angeles se quedo “sin futbol americano” por 22 largos an~os…

El proyecto se tuvo que cancelar a pesar que los angeles mayor…mr. Richard
riordan y el gobernador de california, mr. Pete wilson habian apoyado las
“estrellas mundiales” por los cientos de cartas de apoyo de
personalidades mundiales del deporte que recibimos como arnold palmer, a. J.
Foyt.. Cinco veces campeon de las “500 millas de indianapolis”…
Jerry west…isiah thomas y michael jordan…estrellas de basketball… Alfredo
di stefano… Argentino. Uno de los mas grandes jugadores de football soccer y julio
cesar chavez…uno de los mas destacados boxeadores mexicanos de la historia y
asi hemos recibimos mas de 300 cartas de apoyo.

Todo se cancelo en 1994 y yo decepcionado “abandone la idea” y me fui
a recorrer el mundo en mi profesion como musico y cantante profesional pero
segui recibiendo cartas “positivas” de presidentes de organizaciones
deportivas…de varios gobernadores y miembros del congreso… De comites
olimpicos y de atletas y tambien recibi invitaciones para hacer este proyecto
en otras ciudades. Como en estocolmo, suecia…en budapest, hungria… En
madrid, espan~a; en lisboa, portugal …en rusia y hasta en la ciudad de boston
aqui en estados unidos.. Pero como yo vivo en los angeles.. Solo deseaba
fervientemente que la “avenida de estrellas mundiales” se hiciera en
esta ciudad de los angeles…

En 1916 volvio a “renacer” mi esperanza cuando regreso a los angeles
el equip0 de futbol americano…los “rams”…y los
“chargers”…ademas ya se construyo un excelente y moderno estadio
..el “sofi stadium” en inglewood, california …estamos cerca de
conseguir nuestro cometido y por eso estamos pidiendo firmas a los
“fans” de los “rams”

por cada “estrella que se ponga en la ‘”avenida” se premiara a
los estudiantes excelentes con becas para sigan su carrera.

Ya tenemos unas 5.000 firmas pero necesitamos mas firmas de entusiastas
aficionados que escriban su nombre y el nombre de su atleta favorito…y manden

LETTER TO THE MAYOR OF INGLEWOOD MR. JAMES BUTTS JR.

Here is a letter which I sent to the Mayor of Inglewood, Mr. James Butts Jr.

I have yet to hear from him or his office.

 

 

Los Angeles July 10, , 2016

Honorable  Mayor James T. Butts Jr.:

Congratulations for the success of the City of Inglewood…

the construction of a new modern Stadium and bringing the “Rams” team  back to Los Angeles where they belong…

Its been twenty one years of constant struggle to have the NFL back to one of the most

important cities in the world… Los Angeles … rich in Sports History…

My name is Pepe Crow…Screenwriter, author, musician, former soccer player and

founder of the Sports Award called the “World Star” which will immortalize the Worlds’

Best Athletes such as   Jesse Owens, Joe Louis, Arnold Palmer, Muhammad Ali, Michael

Jordan, Babe Ruth, Jim Thorpe, Mark Spitz, “Magic” Johnson, etc.

The “World Star” made out of bronze and marble and measuring 3 x 3 ft. in diameter will

give Honor to the Nominee: Scholarships to disabled athletes and  to excellent students;

will generate businesses and create jobs which will benefit the city; Will be an incentive

to future generations and will be another attraction to the international tourism.

With the same concept of the Stars at the Hollywood’s “Walk of Fame”, the “World Star”

will be sponsored by Corporations, Sports Organizations and by private individuals…

Due to the enormous amount of successful films and the appeal of the “Hollywood Stars”

Hollywood is known worldwide as the “Mecca of the Cinema”. The same prominence

could be achieved by the City of Inglewood with the “World Stars” on Century Boulevard,

leading the way to the place where the Stadium is going to be built…That section of

Century Blvd. could be known as the “World Sports Celebrities Pathway”.

We have received Support Letters from more than 200 Sport Personalities from around the

world. From Italy ,Brazil ,  Spain , Portugal , France , Egypt , Hungary , Argentina , Colombia ,

Venezuela , Ecuador , Mexico , Sweden , England ,  Nigeria ,  Germany , Russia , etc. These

The “World Star” Project was accepted in 1994 and the Stars were  going to be placed in the

center of the New Exposition Park Project, with the name of “Olympic Promenade”, which was

going to be done to restore the beauty of the legendary Exposition Park of the 1900’s…but

because of the 1994 earthquake and the subsequent parting of the teams,”Raiders” and

the “Rams”… the multi-million dollar project was cancelled.

One of our more enthusiastic supporters in Los Angeles City Hall is Mr. Bernard Parks…former

Los Angeles City Council member…He applauds and praises the idea saying that the City with

an NFL Team and the “Stars” Project will  be known as the “Center of the Sports World”…

and in reality… he is not far away from the truth….
